BANJO
Black & Tan Kelpie
Meet "Banjo" (D240752)
This is Banjo, a 2-year-old male Kelpie with a sweet, yet timid personality. Banjo’s journey hasn’t been an easy one – he was once a stray and has not had the opportunity for proper training or socialization. As a result, Banjo is still learning how to be the confident, loving companion that he is meant to be.
Banjo is a gentle soul who thrives in a calm and patient environment. He is not particularly interested in toys, so he may not be the playful type that immediately grabs your attention with games. However, with the right training and guidance, Banjo has the potential to blossom into a loyal and devoted friend.
What Banjo Needs:
Banjo will benefit from basic obedience training, including leash training, recall, and commands like “sit.” He does not yet have a reliable recall and needs a family willing to commit to helping him build his confidence and skills. Because of his timid nature, Banjo is not recommended for households with small children, but he could thrive in a home with older, more understanding children who can offer him the space and guidance he needs.
Banjo also gets along well with other dogs and would appreciate a canine companion. He could be introduced to cats with the right approach, but this would require supervision and patience from his adopters.
Ideal Home:
Banjo needs a home where he has access to a large yard and plenty of room to roam. Due to his breed's active nature, he will require regular exercise and stimulation to stay happy and healthy. A rural property would be ideal for Banjo, where he can enjoy a peaceful environment, to bring him out of his shell.
Banjo is still looking for a family to call his own – a family that will be patient with him and help him build the trust and skills he needs to succeed. With time, dedication, and a lot of love, Banjo will become the wonderful companion you’ve been looking for!
If you're ready to give Banjo the home he deserves, please complete the online adoption questionnaire and include photos of your secure yard & fencing. A shelter staff member will be in touch to arrange a meet & greet.
