Meet Hazel, a 6-month-old Staffordshire Terrier mix who is as sweet as she is bouncy! Hazel is a playful and loving girl who is eager to please, though her excited nature means she may not be the best fit for a home with small children, as she tends to jump when she’s feeling playful.

Hazel is still learning the ropes and will benefit from some back-to-basic training and socialization. She is easily overstimulated, so she’ll thrive in a quiet home where she can take things at her own pace and gradually get used to the world around her. With her love for food, Hazel is a motivated learner and will do well with training, especially if it’s reward-based with her favourite treats!

While Hazel loves people and is very affectionate, she is a little wary of other dogs. She gets along well with polite dogs but may struggle with more dominant personalities. Hazel would do best in a home with a dog who has a calm and gentle nature and where introductions are slow.

Hazel will also need a secure yard with proper fencing to keep her safe, and we require photos of the yard attached to your application to ensure it meets her needs. She loves toys and playing, and she’s great for training, though she still needs practice with recall, as she doesn’t quite know her name yet.

3. The Shepparton Animal Shelter will contact you to talk about adopting. If the animal is available, an appointment will be made for you to attend the Shepparton Animal Shelter for a 'meet and greet', which can take about 30 minutes.

Adoption Commitment

The Shepparton Animal Shelter encourages new owners of adopted animals to consider their lifestyle and commitment carefully before adoption. We wish to see all adopted animals find their forever homes. However we understand that sometimes, an adoption does not work out. If you are no longer able to care for your adopted animal, for any reason, please contact the Shepparton Animal Shelter.

Adoption Guarantee

If a dog, puppy, cat or kitten is not acceptable to a purchaser because of health, physical or other reasons (excluding accidents), which is supported by a statement from a Veterinary practitioner, within seven days of purchase, the Animal Shelter will accept the animal back and refund the purchase price of the animal.

If a dog, puppy, cat or kitten is returned within three days for any other reason, the Animal Shelter will refund 75% of the purchase price or offer a replacement animal with the same guarantee.

If a dog, puppy, cat or kitten dies or is euthanased as a result of a disease that is traceable to the point of sale, the Animal Shelter will refund the purchase price or offer a replacement animal with the same guarantee.
