Biodiversity Resources

There are many groups in our region that you can get involved with to learn more and support our biodiversity.

  • Birdlife Murray Goulburn (Birdlife GV) was established in 1984 and is a small, friendly club, currently with approximately 80 members who come from a wide area around the region – from Benalla to Tatura, and from Numurkah to Alexandra.
  • Cussen Park Advisory Committee – There are various activities held in the Cussen Park, run by the Advisory Committee, local organisations and the local community. Activities include planting, bird watching, Waterwatch, school and adult education and group functions
  • Friends of the Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton (FABGS) were formed to support the Committee of Management in the establishment and ongoing development of the former landfill site, now showcasing Australian native and indigenous plants.
  • Goulburn Broken Indigenous Seedbank aims to provide genetically healthy seed to support landscape restoration activities, while  improving landscape health and resilience of biodiversity, especially in the face of climate change.
  • Goulburn Murray Landcare Network (GMLN) works to achieve sustainable land management by working closely with Local and State Government agencies, schools, local Landcare and environment groups.
  • Goulburn Valley Environment Group (GVEG) is a not-for-profit community environment and conservation organisation based in the Goulburn Valley in northern Victoria, Australia.
  • Trust for Nature works closely with private landowners, government, organisations, traditional landowners and businesses to help restore, protect and manage biodiversity on private land.
  • GB CMA is the peak natural resource management body in the region, working with communities to improve and protect the catchment’s natural resources (water, land and biodiversity).
