Pests — what you can do
Cats
Residents are legally required to keep their cats confined to their property 24 hours a day to help protect our native wildlife, and keep their cat safe. Council manages the Shepparton Animal Shelter, and hires out cat traps to assist in the removal of feral cats. Captured cats can be taken to the Shepparton Animal Shelter at 125 Wanganui Rd Shepparton. The Animal Shelter will check the cat for microchips and contact the owner if it is a registered cat.
Queensland Fruit Fly
Queensland Fruit Fly is a major pest of our horticulture. Ensure any fruit from trees is suitably cleaned up and disposed of, to prevent infestations.
