National Childhood Immunisation Program

See below for a summary of the National Childhood Immunisation Program, or refer to the National Immunisation Program website for full details.

2 months (from 6 weeks of age)

  • Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib)
  • Pneumococcal
  • Rotavirus

4 Months (at minimum of age 4 months or 8 weeks from previous vaccination)

  • Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib)
  • Pneumococcal
  • Rotavirus

6 Months (at minimum of age 6 months or 8 weeks from previous vaccination)

  • Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib)

6 Months up to 5 years (all infants and Children)

  • Influenza (flu) (seasonal vaccine)

12 Months (must be 12 months old, no earlier)

  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella
  • Meningococcal ACWY
  • Pneumococcal

18 Months

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough)
  • Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib)

4 Years

  • Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio

Catch Up/Overseas Immunisations

Council can upload relevant vaccines given overseas to Australian Immunisation Register and/or prepare a catch-up plan as per Australian schedule for missing or overdue vaccines. 

Contact Council’s Immunisation Services on (03) 5832 9744 to arrange to bring all the vaccinations records and your child’s details to our office.

Unfortunately we cannot prepare a catch-up plan at the immunisation sessions.

More information

  • We request one (1) adult accompany their child/children to the immunisation session. If you are unwell please do not attend a session, contact us to re-schedule your booking.
  • Please do not attend the session if anyone attending is unwell with a fever. Contact us on on (03) 5832 9744 to re-schedule your booking.
  • After receiving any vaccination, children and adults should remain at the immunisation venue for at least 15 minutes to enable immediate attention in the event of a reaction.

Australian Immunisation Register (AIR)

All vaccinations provided by Council are reported to the Australian Immunisation Register – phone 1800 653 809.

You can get a copy of your child’s immunisation history statement by:

  • Accessing your MyGov account online
  • Requesting a statement be sent in the mail from the Australian Immunisation Register
  • Call the register on 1800 653 809
  • Visiting your local Medicare office.
