Shepparton BMX Track and Cycling Precinct Upgrades

Works have commenced on game changing upgrades at the Shepparton BMX Track and Cycling Precinct, with the suite of works set to enhance the current facilities to better enable local, state, national and international events to be held.

Greater Shepparton City Council received funding under the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program for several developments at the Shepparton BMX Track and Cycling Precinct, with the projects announced in July 2023.

The following four projects will be delivered:

Shepparton BMX Club Multi Use Events Pavilion

  • The Shepparton BMX Club does not have an appropriate pavilion with amenities such as toilets, change spaces, meeting space or catering facilities.
  • The new two storey multi-use events pavilion will ensure appropriate facilities for the club, and provide much needed flexibility for use during major events and for other users within the Shepparton Sports City precinct.
  • Expected completion is end March 2025.

Shepparton BMX Track Start Hill Enhancements

  • Improvements to the 5 metre and 8 metre start hills for racing, along with improved storage for both clubs.
  • Expected completion is end March 2025.

Shepparton BMX Track Enhancements

  • Improvements to better manage requirements during major events and club commitments.
  • Works will improve and enhance the track surface at the sides of the jumps (batters) and include paths and drainage improvements between jumps, allowing better maintenance management for the Shepparton BMX Club. This will result in a more functional and aesthetically appealing surface for broadcasting in line with major national and international facilities.
  • Track resurfacing at the sides of the jumps (batters) were completed in December 2024. Paths and drainage improvements between jumps will be completed in April 2025.

Cycling Precinct Velodrome Lighting Upgrade

  • Upgrade of the track lighting to 300 lux LED lighting to allow for improved amenities for track racing and local club training, as well as support major BMX events, including warm-up requirements, team pit areas and pre-event staging components.
  • Completed December 2024.

These projects will help the Shepparton BMX and Shepparton Cycling Clubs continue to grow and build capacity in the region.
