After a return to Stage Three restrictions that have seen gyms throughout Greater Shepparton close for the second time since March, Aquamoves has launched an initiative to help the local community stay active and keep connected online.
Aquamoves’ ‘Fit For Fun’ photo competition encourages people living in Greater Shepparton to snap a picture of themselves exercising at home and post it to the Aquamoves Facebook page for their chance to share in a prize pool worth over $1300.
Aquamoves’ panel of judges will select the winning photo entries, with points awarded based on:
Greater Shepparton City Council Manager Active Living, David Booth says he hopes the competition will inspire people to engage in activity that has a positive impact on their mental and physical health.
“We understand returning to Stage Three restrictions may be making people feel even more isolated than they did before. We want to remind them that they can still be part of our community even though we are required to physically distance and stay at home.”
As part of the online competition, the team at Aquamoves will also provide education on the health benefits of being active, while offering tips and creating challenges to help people overcome barriers to exercise.
Mr Booth said the Aquamoves team are also available to create customised workout programs that can be used from the home.
“We know that physical activity is so important for overall well-being and immunity, but we also recognise keeping active from home can be much harder. This is why we’re encouraging people to reach out to the Aquamoves team for support and take up the free personalised program offer.”
Aquamoves’ ‘Fit For Fun’ photo competition will run for three weeks concluding Friday 11 September 2020. Greater Shepparton residents should visit the Aquamoves website for more information and keep an eye on Aquamoves’ Facebook for competition updates and to get involved.
