Greater Shepparton City Council is inviting the community to experience a vibrant showcase of local talent at the 2025 Cultural Diversity Week Art Exhibition, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the region.
In Summary
The exhibition will be on display at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre from Monday 17 March to Friday 18 April 2025, featuring artwork from local artists representing a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, including First Nations artists.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged the community to visit the exhibition, highlighting the role of art in fostering cultural understanding.
“This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent within our community while also gaining a deeper appreciation for the many cultures that make up Greater Shepparton,” he said.
“Art has a unique ability to bring people together, spark important conversations, and showcase the rich stories that shape our community.”
The exhibition will officially launch on Monday 17 March from 10am to 12pm, featuring a keynote address by Dr Francis Acquah AM, who will speak on the connection between art, culture, and mental wellbeing. Guests will also enjoy traditional cultural performances, including a Filipino dance and a drumming showcase by the Shepparton Malayalee Association (SHEMA). Light refreshments, including vegetarian and gluten-free options, will be provided.
Visitors to the exhibition will also have the chance to participate in a community voting initiative, running from Monday 17 March to Friday 18 April 2025. Attendees can vote for their favourite artwork either online or in person, with prizes awarded to the top three artworks:
Additionally, one lucky voter will be randomly selected to win a $100 gift card.
The Cultural Diversity Week Art Exhibition is a key feature of Greater Shepparton’s celebrations, providing a space for the community to connect through creativity and culture.
