The program aims to encourage healthy, proactive living in older adults by teaching skills in how to grow your own fresh produce, as well as harvesting and cooking.
“It’s a great opportunity for older adults of the community to get out into the beautiful outdoors and get their hands dirty”, SPC KidsTown Coordinator Tracey Toy said.
“It’s a fun way to develop new social networks and catch up once a week”.
Bloomers will be holding weekly sessions every Friday at 10.00am. We will be hosting a welcoming morning tea at 10am on 1 May at KidsTown for anyone interested in the program. All past, present and future participants welcome.
Bloomers dates currently include 24 April, 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 May, 5, 12, 19 and 26 June.
Newcomers are welcome to join at any time.
‘Bloomers’ is helping seniors from all backgrounds get into the garden and grow their health! Learn about gardening, food harvesting and cooking, and enjoy social activities with others!
