Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Cr Dinny Adem and CEO Peter Harriott are currently in Canberra meeting with Federal government key advisers and politicians regarding the funding needs of the region.
The visit involves a busy few days of meetings to push for important projects for Greater Shepparton including the GV Highway Bypass, the new SAM, high speed rail, and improved facilities for GV Health.
The application for funding for the new SAM is with the Federal Government and it is hoped the visit to Canberra will strengthen the bid for $10m from the Federal government.
Today Mr Harriott and Cr Adem met with John Alexander OAM MP Chair – Standing Committee on Infrastructure, Transport and Cities to discuss the importance of High Speed Rail and the alignment through Greater Shepparton.
The visit coincides with last night's announcement of the Federal budget.
