Complimentary parking ends 31 January

Council would like to remind shoppers and visitors to the Shepparton central business district that complimentary car parking in Council-owned on-street parking spaces concludes on 31 January 2021, however Council-owned off-street car parks remain free and timed.

Council provided complimentary parking from 1 December 2020 until 31 January 2021 to encourage locals and visitors to support our local economy over the festive period, and to assist our community with COVID-19 recovery.

From Monday 1 February paid parking in on-street car parks will resume, and infringements will be issued for failure to pay, or for staying longer than the time displayed on the signs.

Parking in off-street council owned car parks will remain free but time limits will still apply. If you want to stay in the CBD for a longer time than on the sign you should park in an all-day space, or move your car to a new zone before the time limit expires.

The PayStay app is the easiest and most efficient way to pay for parking in Shepparton. You only pay for the time you use and you don’t have to search for coins. For example, instead of using a $1 coin to pay for 15 minutes you may only pay $0.37.

PayStay is really simple to use. Download the app to your smart phone and make sure you activate payment before you leave your vehicle. The app can locate the zone you are in. Once you have located the zone and selected the registration for the vehicle you are in, press ‘next’ and confirm you want to start parking. When you return to your car, press the red ‘stop parking’ on the PayStay app.

The app can also show you where parking is located. If you select ‘map’ you can see where the parking is, how many bays there are and how long you can park for. You can also add other vehicles to your account and check your history.

Parking in council car parks on Saturdays and Sundays is free, both in on street and off street car parks, with time limits still applying, in accordance with the signage displayed.

An off street parking map can be found on Council’s website here.
