The Toolamba and District Community Plan 2023-2027 was noted at Greater Shepparton City Council’s April Council Meeting, reflecting the priorities of the wider community for the next five years.
The Plan was developed by the Toolamba and District Steering Committee which was established in 2010 to work with the community to identify the vision, key priorities and future development of Toolamba and District. Since its inception, the Committee has formed a long list of achievements for the town including fencing for the CFA building, a war memorial at Community Hall and heritage signage installation.
In developing the plan, the Committee consulted with residents to form a better understanding of community aspirations, which included community connectedness, the natural environment, small town feel, and increased infrastructure and community assets. The feedback received then formed the basis of 17 desired outcomes which are outlined in the plan for achievement over the next five years. These include:
Each of the outcomes are ranked by priority and provided with possible actions to help them be achieved. Groups, organisations and levels of government are also identified to assist in the achievement of each outcome.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, congratulated the Committee on completing he document which addresses all areas of community life, infrastructure and future plans for Toolamba and District.
“Community Plans are important documents for our small towns as they involve community members coming together to develop a plan to shape the future of the community in which they live, and then to work together to take community led action on these priorities,” he said.
“Toolamba residents are interested in seeing their town expand and improve and this plan for the future will help them do just that. Council look forward to assisting the Committee in working towards their goals and achievements for the town, and seeing Toolamba and District continue to thrive.”
