Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce that the ‘four stages’ of the Echuca Road, Mooroopna shared path project is complete, with works planned and delivered between 2021 and 2023.
The shared path extends north from McLennan Street along the Echuca Road eastern separator, concluding at Knight Street. The works are an outcome of the Greater Shepparton Cycling Strategy, which provides direction on the construction of recreational paths, commuter cycling network paths and on-road cycling lanes.
The project was constructed in four stages, one stage per financial year, and was officially completed in November 2023. The works were completed by One Stop Civil, a local contractor in Tatura, who completed all four stages of the project.
Each stage required; earthworks, supply and installation of bedding material and concrete for the 2.5 metre wide shared path, installation of holding rails, signage and bollards, construction of pedestrian crossings and minor asphalt works.
Below is an overview of each project stage:
Stage 1 – McLennan Street to Alexandra Street:
Stage 2 – Alexandra Street to Ann Street:
Stage 3 – Ann Street to Anselmi Street:
Stage 4 – Anselmi Street to Knight Street:
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, said Council was extremely pleased with the outcome of the project.
“A lot of time has gone into planning and executing this shared path and we couldn’t be happier with the end result. I would like to thank One Stop Civil for their consistent hard work over four years of development, we believe it was worth the wait,” he said.
“I would also like to thank the motorists and community for their patience during the project. The finished shared path allows for improved traffic movements and further safety at this busy location. It also allows for better connectivity around Mooroopna, adding to the extensive shared path network in the region which is well utilised by cyclists and pedestrians.”
