The festival of mouth-watering food from around the globe has returned for another year. The St Georges Road Food Festival on Sunday 27 October offers individuals the opportunity to enjoy a day out with food, entertainment, friends and family.
Now in its sixth year the food festival is a celebration of the regions multicultural community and offers authentic meals, sweets and treats from various cultures. You’ll be served a traditional home cooked meal, made with love by locals from recipes that have been passed down through generations.
Cultures you can expect to experience with food to tease your tastebuds with include; Indian, Greek, Malaysian, Sri Lankan, Filipino, Afghani, Iraqi, Spanish, Vietnamese, Nepalese and Syrian.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development Geraldine Christou said this event was one not to be missed for those who love food and culture, and wish to join with the community in celebrating the rich cultural diversity our community is blessed with.
“Greater Shepparton is known for its multiculturalism and diverse communities, so it’s only fitting we celebrate this by allowing locals and visitors the chance to experience a taste of these cultures,” Ms Christou said.
“What you experience here is different to any other festival, the love for the food, culture and tradition is paramount, with local community groups also taking the opportunity to give back to their own community. Join us at the St Georges Road Food Festival and enjoy the tastes of the world on a plate and experience the traditions of different cultures.”
Attendees will be able to experience multicultural dances, performances and cooking demonstrations at the festival and are encouraged to join in on the celebrations.
Festival highlights include a performance by the Heard Instinct Collective who will be performing at the Land of Plenty music festival in Shepparton later in the year.
