Greater Shepparton City Council in partnership with the Furphy Foundation, La Trobe University and the GV Libaries, remind all young people this is the final week to submit a story for the 2023 Furphy Literary Awards.
Entries are open for the four youth categories which are made up of Junior Short Story, Junior Poetry, for writers 12 and under, Youth Short Story and Youth Poetry for writers aged 13 to 17 years.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encourages young writers across the Goulburn Valley to submit a story.
“These awards are another way we can share the stories from young people in our community and help nurture upcoming writers,” he said.
“There are some incredible stories out there and if you haven’t already, I encourage you to submit your story to the Furphy Literary Awards.”
Each category will have a first place prize of $300, followed by second of $100 and third of $50. Entries close on Wednesday 31 May 2023 at 11.59pm.
