Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with the Furphy Foundation, La Trobe University and the Goulburn Valley Libraries, would like to remind young people that this is the final week to submit your entries for the 2024 Furphy Literary Awards.
In Summary
Entries are open for the four youth categories, which are made up of Junior Short Story, Junior Poetry for writers 12 and under, Youth Short Story and Youth Poetry for writers aged 13 to 17 years.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged young writers to submit their stories before the competition closes.
“If you know a young writer, don’t wait until the last minute, get them to submit their entries now,” he said.
“The Furphy Literary Awards celebrate the stories of our young people and their unique experiences growing up in the Goulburn Valley. The competition gives them the opportunity to learn from experienced judges and get recognised for their creativity.”
The Furphy Literary Awards offer exciting prizes in each category, with a first place prize of $300, followed by second of $100 and third of $50.
