Footballer to inspire Seven Week Challenge team

Melbourne AFL player and local identity Shannon Byrnes will be running a fitness session and talk with the Aquamoves Seven Week Challenge group on Friday 21 February from 6.00-7.30pm.

Melbourne AFL player and local identity Shannon Byrnes will be running a fitness session and talk with the Aquamoves Seven Week Challenge group on Friday 21 February from 6.00-7.30pm. Shannon will be talking about fitness in relation to the Seven Week Challenge, a fully supported lifestyle and fitness program designed by Aquamoves to equip participants with the essential tools needed to maintain healthy lifestyle choices. Shannon will be speaking to the group about exercise and recovery methods and aids currently being used at the elite level. He will also talk about his fitness journey and how he continues to keep himself motivated to not only perform at the elite level but ensure he continues to make the right lifestyle choices to help him achieve his goals of living a healthy life.

The Seven Week Challenge provides individualised nutrition plans catering for men and women, two weekly fitness sessions with experienced and qualified personal trainers, health coaching sessions and nutrition advice from an expert nutritionist, and Super classes with elite sportspeople.

Shannon played all of his junior football in Shepparton and followed a traditional pathway into the AFL. He was drafted to the Geelong Cats at the end of the 2002 season as their third selection in the AFL rookie draft. Over the following 10 seasons Shannon played 108 games for the Cats including premierships in 2007 and 2009. He also played in two preseason premierships with the Cats and played in the VFL premiership in 2012. Shannon moved to the Melbourne FC at the end of the 2012 season and was immediately drafted into the leadership group at the Demons. He played a further 17 games last season giving him 125 games and 112 goals to this point in his career.
