The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee invites everyone along to their International Women’s Day event being held on Thursday 8 March 2018.

The theme of the event is ‘Women Designed, Not Defined’ which will tie in with the Shepparton Festival theme of ‘By Design: Unique Events in Unusual Places’. All are welcome for an evening of celebration, which will be achieved through the rhythms of music, conversation, art and food. A facilitated panel discussion will explore the theme for the evening, as well as recognising the passion, resilience and leadership of women both in our local community and around the world.
Greater Shepparton City Councillor and Charter Champion, Seema Abdullah is excited about the theme of the forthcoming International Women’s Day event.
“The Greater Shepparton area is fortunate to have local women who are inspiring and achieving amazing things. The Greater Shepparton area is diverse and the talents, backgrounds, and stories of local women are equally as diverse.”
“I encourage members of the community to register for a free ticket and attend this wonderful event,” said Cr Abdullah.
The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee (GSWCAAC) is a community advisory committee of the Greater Shepparton City Council, and is part of a broader network of Local Government Area (LGA) advisory committees across the state that are guided and informed by the Victorian Local Government Women’s Charter.
The Committee is made up of volunteers who, with Council support, aim to increase women’s participation in key decision making forums in the community and in democratic governance. The Committee supports three main principles: Gender Equity, Diversity, and Active Citizenship.
This event is proudly supported by La Trobe University, Primary Care Connect, Avonlea Flowers, The University of Melbourne, Shepparton Art Museum, Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District, Goulburn Murray Social Workers Group and Greater Shepparton City Council.
Light catering will be provided.
