Two new businesses in Shepparton’s CBD have been successful in receiving funding as part of Greater Shepparton City Council’s New Business Grant.
Council noted the successful applications of Okami and Bluebell Bathhouse at the December Council Meeting, with the businesses receiving a share of $11,000 to assist in their establishment.
Council’s New Business Grant was established in 2017 as an initiative to assist in the formation of new businesses, as well as boost economic development opportunities and investment in the Greater Shepparton region. The grant has three rounds per year with the successful applicants receiving a one-to-one dollar matching investment.
The New Business Grant has four objectives which aim to support the successful applicants, including business growth, sustainable economy, premise and precinct activation, and investment promotion. Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said Council were pleased to be able to support new businesses and assist them in their establishment in Greater Shepparton.
“We are excited to see these two new businesses establish roots in our community and look forward to supporting more new businesses in their establishment in the region in the future,” she said.
“The New Business Grant can be used for infrastructure or funding support for businesses in Shepparton’s CBD and on the main streets of our region’s small towns. I encourage all new businesses to apply for this funding and receive the extra boost they may need to get themselves up and running.”
Okami will open at 111 Fryers Street, Shepparton and support the ongoing establishment of Fryers Street as the food strip of the region. Bluebell Bathouse has already commenced operation at 20 Fryers Street, Shepparton and aims to create a place of relaxation and tranquillity within the CBD.
