Victorian Seniors Festival is back for 2015, with a range of events and activities taking place across Greater Shepparton.
This year’s festival includes the Over 55’s Health and Wellbeing Expo, featuring Denise Drysdale, photography and art classes, musical performances, come and try sporting and leisure activities and environmental walks.
Council’s Director Community Kaye Thomson encouraged people to attend.
“With more than 20 different free and low cost activities taking place, there is definitely something for everyone,” Ms Thomson said.
“The festival enhances seniors’ social interaction by creating opportunities to meet new people, make new friends and build on current friendships.
“Research shows the more socially connected we are as a community, the healthier we are and the safer we are, that is why celebrations like this are so important.”
To help people get around, free public transport services will be provided to Victorian Seniors Card holders over the period Sunday 4 October to Sunday 11 October 2015.
Pick up a Victorian Seniors Festival program from Council’s Welsford Street Office or visit greatershepparton.com.au/events for a full list of Seniors Festival events and start planning your festival!
Victorian Seniors Festival runs throughout October.
Event bookings open from Monday 14 September and can be made by contacting Council on (03) 5832 9700.
