Greater Shepparton City Council approved grants via the Our Sporting Future, Community Arts, Community Matching, Community Sustainability and Major and Minor Events grants programs at the April Ordinary Council Meeting.

“Council is proud to support our community through many different grants and funding arrangements,” Mayor Cr Seema Abdullah said.
“We thank the many local community groups and organisations for applying for these grants and we hope the financial assistance will assist them in delivering projects, activities or events in the future.”
Our Sporting Future
Council’s Our Sporting Future Funding Program assists community sporting organisations with the implementation of small to medium sized facility development projects. The Grants are available under three categories; Major, Minor, and Sports Aid. Approved funding below:

Community Arts
Council’s Community Arts Grants facilitates projects which enhance the wellbeing of the community through artistic activities, encourage participation in arts and culture activities, support and promote innovation in the arts, celebrate local and emerging culture and identity and promote and encourage sustainable arts activities including generating opportunities for artists.

Community Matching
Council’s Community Matching Grants are designed to support projects which build new social connections and partnerships within communities, allow participation in a community activity, enable community members to develop a new skill and create, renew or revitalise places and spaces within the community.

Community Sustainability
Council’s Community Sustainability Grants Program supports the development and implementation of sustainable projects and events. The projects or events must be in line with action from the Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

Major and Minor Events
Council’s Event Grants provide financial assistance, as well as marketing support, to groups who are organising events within the Greater Shepparton municipality. Small Events can be funded from $500 up to $2,000 and Large Events can be funded from $2,000 up to $5,000.
Council acknowledges many of these events have been, and may be, postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
