Grants approved under five funding programs at the April Ordinary Council Meeting

Greater Shepparton City Council approved grants via the Our Sporting Future, Community Arts, Community Matching, Community Sustainability and Major and Minor Events grants programs at the April Ordinary Council Meeting.

“Council is proud to support our community through many different grants and funding arrangements,” Mayor Cr Seema Abdullah said.

“We thank the many local community groups and organisations for applying for these grants and we hope the financial assistance will assist them in delivering projects, activities or events in the future.”

Our Sporting Future

Council’s Our Sporting Future Funding Program assists community sporting organisations with the implementation of small to medium sized facility development projects. The Grants are available under three categories; Major, Minor, and Sports Aid. Approved funding below:

Major:

  • Central Park Tennis Club - Tennis Courts Fencing and Seating
  • Tallygaroopna Football Netball Club - Netball Shelter

Minor:

  • Mooroopna Football Netball Club - Coaches Box
  • Murchison Bowls Club - Solar Power Project
  • Merrigum Football Netball Club - Ground Redevelopment
  • Tatura Cricket Club - Club Nets Upgrade

Sports Aid:

  • Ardmona Football Netball Club - Strategic, Operational and Participation Growth Plan for Organisation
  • Shepparton United Football Netball Club - Strategic, Operational and Participation Growth Plan for Organisation

Community Arts

Council’s Community Arts Grants facilitates projects which enhance the wellbeing of the community through artistic activities, encourage participation in arts and culture activities, support and promote innovation in the arts, celebrate local and emerging culture and identity and promote and encourage sustainable arts activities including generating opportunities for artists.

Approved funding:

  • Shepparton Malayalee Association - South Indian Arts Promotion
  • Shepparton Brass and Wind Student Instruction Term 2,3,4 2020.

Community Matching

Council’s Community Matching Grants are designed to support projects which build new social connections and partnerships within communities, allow participation in a community activity, enable community members to develop a new skill and create, renew or revitalise places and spaces within the community.

Approved funding:

  • East Shepparton Bowls Club - Seating for New Complex
  • Greater Shepparton Winter Night Shelter - Purchase of a trailer
  • Goulburn Valley Chinese Association – Raising Bilingual/Multilingual Children in a Multicultural Society
  • Goulburn Valley Pride - GV Pride Fun Run/Walk
  • Horses for Hope Equipment Purchase
  • Kialla Golf Club - Trailer Fire Fighting Unit
  • Mooroopna Bowls Club - Renewable Energy Solar Power Installation
  • Mooroopna Men’s Shed - Replace Roofing on the Work and Recreational Area
  • Multicultural Arts Victoria - To Be Seen MAV Creator's Space Visual Arts Program
  • Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad - Presentation Skills Training
  • Tallygaroopna Men’s Shed - Shed for Air Compressor and Dust Extractor

Community Sustainability

Council’s Community Sustainability Grants Program supports the development and implementation of sustainable projects and events. The projects or events must be in line with action from the Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

Approved funding:

  • Transition Tatura - Communities Shaping The Future: Sustainable Housing
  • Guthrie Street Primary School - Sustainable Gardening

Major and Minor Events

Council’s Event Grants provide financial assistance, as well as marketing support, to groups who are organising events within the Greater Shepparton municipality. Small Events can be funded from $500 up to $2,000 and Large Events can be funded from $2,000 up to $5,000.

Council acknowledges many of these events have been, and may be, postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Goulburn Valley South Sudanese Community Association - South Sudanese Independence Day
  • Goulburn Valley Congolese Association - Welcoming new arrival Congolese from Africa to Shepparton
  • Tatura Community House - Monster Garage Sale
  • Dookie Military History Group - Dookie Military Vehicle Rally
  • Shepparton Malayalee Association - Community Talent Show
  • Shepparton Swimming Club - Shepparton Aqua Carnivale
  • Goulburn Valley Reining Horse Association - GVRHA Buckle Up and Slide Reining Spectacular 2020
  • Know your Roots (KYR) Incorporated - Fiafia Project & Pasifika Festival 2020
  • Soroptimist International of Shepparton - Women’s Health and Pampering Day
  • Valley Radio Flyer - Shepparton Mammoth Scale Fly-In
  • Goulburn Valley Branch of the Aviculture Society of Australia - G V Bird Exhibition & Sale
  • Punjab Sports Club Shepparton - 6th Annual Punjab Sports Club Shepparton Tournament
  • Shepparton Competition Society - Shepparton Young Instrumentalists Award
