Greater Shepparton City Council welcomes new and returning players to the 2019 Country Week Tennis event.
More than 1100 players will make their way to Greater Shepparton next week between February 11 and February 15 for a chance to compete in the 2019 Country Week Tennis event.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe extends her welcome to the entire playing group and wishes them good luck in the tournament.
“I am delighted to welcome all players and their families to the region and in particular our township of Shepparton and Mooroopna and I hope you enjoy your experience while in our region.”
“We are excited to be hosting this event once again in Greater Shepparton, which has a strong and vibrant tennis community.”
The event further cements our reputation as a major regional sporting event destination.
“Greater Shepparton takes pride in providing professional facilities to play on and we hope the players alongside the community enjoy the grass courts over the weeklong event and for many years to come,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
Tennis Victoria’s acting CEO Belinda Kleverlaan said Shepparton would thrive as host of the historic event.
“We commend the town of Shepparton for embracing such an important event on the Victorian tennis calendar,” Ms Kleverlaan said.
“Following on from the Australian Open, Country Week complements what has been a truly memorable Summer of Tennis.
“This could not be possible without the support from the Greater Shepparton City Council and of course the incredible team of volunteers from both the Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club and the Mooroopna Lawn Tennis Club.”
Games will be played between Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club and Mooroopna Recreation Reserve featuring high calibre players who have been part of the competition for many years.
