Greater Shepparton City Council is inviting community members to express their interest in joining two key advisory committees that help shape a more inclusive, accessible and age-friendly region.
In Summary
Expressions of interest for both the Disability Advisory Committee and the Positive Ageing Advisory Committee are now open and will close on Friday 16 May 2025.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the committees play an important role in shaping the region’s future.
“These committees give the community a voice. They help us better understand the experiences of people living with a disability and our ageing population, so that we can make decisions that benefit everyone,” he said.
“Whether you are living with a disability, caring for someone, working in the sector or have a passion for positive ageing, this is your chance to contribute to real change in Greater Shepparton.”
Disability Advisory Committee: Council is seeking people with lived or professional experience in the disability space. This may include people living with a disability, carers, service providers or advocates. The committee identifies barriers and opportunities to improve access, inclusion and everyday experiences across Greater Shepparton.

Positive Ageing Advisory Committee: Council is seeking community members aged 60 and over, along with aged care representatives or those involved in community groups. The committee focuses on promoting opportunities, supporting key initiatives and advocating for the needs of older residents across the region.

Council’s Director Community, Louise Mitchell, said both committees offer a meaningful way for locals to help shape the community.
“If you are passionate about improving access, inclusion or supporting older residents, we encourage you to get involved. These committees are a great way to make a difference,” she said.
