Greater Shepparton to host Victorian Softball Masters

Greater Shepparton City Council is hosting the 2015 Victorian Masters Softball Championships over the June Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

The event will see more than 800 players converge on the region and inject more than $1m into the local economy.

Greater Shepparton Mayor Dennis Patterson said the event was a major coup for Greater Shepparton. “This is the third time we will host the event after hosting very successfully in 2010 and 2012,” Cr Patterson said.

“Ten softball diamonds will be installed especially for the event at the Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.”

“It is fantastic for Greater Shepparton to be hosting an event such as this and continues to showcase the municipality as a major events destination providing a fantastic boost for the tourism and retail industries.”

Players will be aged 35 and over and will come from Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania and New Zealand to take part in the tournament. Within the teams there are former Victorian representative players, Australian and Olympic representatives and national and international umpires and coaches.

The 2015 Victorian Softball Masters Championships will be held from Saturday 6 June until Monday 8 June 2015.
