Greater Shepparton’s July contamination rates of the green lid bin were again low at 1.03 per cent following last month’s 0.90 per cent, the best result since 2015.
Greater Shepparton residents have done an excellent job in sorting their waste in 2020, in particular during the COVID-19 restrictions, and these contamination rates highlight these efforts.
As a community Greater Shepparton has been achieving consistent and positive results each year. The environmental, health and economic benefits are well known and accepted from increased recycling and diversion from landfill. By residents making the effort to understand the various waste streams and to put waste in the correct bin it makes a huge difference to the entire process with enormous long term benefits for all in the community
