Have your say on the draft RiverConnect Strategic Plan

Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback on the draft RiverConnect 2017-2022 Strategic Plan.

RiverConnect’s vision is to connect people with our local rivers and wetlands, and the plan outlines the strategic priorities and programs to achieve this.

A number of key focus areas have been identified including:

  • Dumping of rubbish along the Goulburn and Broken Rivers
  • Improved access to the river environment
  • Increased community engagement incorporating the river environment
  • Increased student and school engagement with the river environment
  • Stronger focus on Aboriginal cultural activities

Greater Shepparton Mayor, Cr Dinny Adem encouraged people to have their say on the plan.

“We are so lucky to have rivers and wetlands right on our doorstep that provide so many opportunities to enjoy the natural environment, such as a walk or ride along the river, the regular free RiverConnect Spotlight Walks and the annual Bat Walk and Turtle Talk,” Cr Adem said.

“There are a number of activities happening where you will be able to chat to RiverConnect staff and share your ideas and feedback on the plan.”
