The works will improve the wetland and the lake’s water quality and overall functionality.

In order to give contractors access to remove the flow control gate, the water in Lowanna Lake will be lowered starting on Wednesday 3 April. From Monday 8 April, contractors are expected to start working on the project, with completion due by Monday 15 April weather permitting.

After the project is complete, Lake Lowanna will be refilled to the necessary levels, which could take up to a week.

Council would like to inform the community and residents that lower lake levels will appear unsightly and may have an odour during this period of works. The lake levels will not harm native fish.

Council recommends irrigation users from Lowanna Lake seek an alternative irrigation supply.

We appreciate the community’s patience during this period, as the continued improvement works will benefit all lake users and the health of the lake in the long term.
