Works on the Maude Street upgrade have progressed with the intersection of Maude and Vaughan Streets now open to traffic on three of the four approaches. Works commenced in February and this is an important milestone for the overall Maude Street Revitalisation Project.
Construction will now move into the area north of the intersection between Vaughan Street and Rowe Street. Maude Street will be closed north of the intersection to allow the remaining construction stages to occur.
The upgraded intersection work included demolition of the roundabout, removal of existing pavement, storm water upgrades, new pedestrian crossings, concrete works, re-asphalting the intersection, new traffic signals and landscaping.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said “We are excited to see works progressing along Maude Street as scheduled. The intersection upgrade will assist traffic flow along Vaughan Street from Wyndham Street through to Corio Street. Greater Shepparton residents will continue to see works occurring north of the intersection. The upgrades between Vaughan Street and High Street will improve the amenity of this area and will provide center of the road parking, along with other upgrades including landscaping.
“We are working closely with the traders in Maude Street and it’s important that our community is aware that these businesses will be open and accessible during the works” he said.
“It is exciting to see the major redevelopments happening and we are really looking forward to the next stage of improvements being completed”.
“We ask motorists and pedestrians to stay alert when travelling in this area. As works progress changes to traffic and pedestrian conditions will vary,” said Mr Hoare.
