Greater Shepparton City Council invites community members to give a loving forever home to one of the many cats and kittens waiting at the Shepparton Animal Shelter.
In Summary
Inspired by the King’s birthday, the Shelter will be hosting a Royal Cat Adoption Day on Saturday 14 June from 10am to 2pm at 125 Wanganui Road, Shepparton.
To help more cats find their forever homes, adoption fees have been reduced to just $30 for cats over 12 months of age, while kittens are available for $100. No appointments are needed, just turn up during the specified times for a meet and greet.
With over 40 cats and kittens ready for adoption, the Shelter is once again at full cat-pacity. Council’s Manager Environment, Sharon Terry, encouraged community members looking to add a new member to the family to consider adopting a cat or kitten.
“Cats make wonderful companions for people of all ages. It is important to remember that adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment requiring care and responsibility,” she said.
“Adopting not only changes the life of the cat you adopt, it also helps the Shelter to have more space to receive more animals in need.”
Animal Shelter staff encourage people planning to attend on the day to check out the available cats online on Council’s website, and complete the online pet adoption questionnaire beforehand to save time on arrival.
All cats have been vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas and are ready to take home on the day. Don’t forget to bring a carrier to take your new furry friend home, or you can purchase one from the Shelter on the day.
