Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce the construction of the new Tatura Skate Park is now complete and ready to be enjoyed by residents, with the project progressing efficiently and ahead of schedule.
In Summary
The new skate park will be open from midday today, Friday 13 June 2025, marking a significant milestone for the community and stakeholders involved.
The project, included in Council’s 2024/2025 Budget and fully funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LCRI) Program, provides a greatly improved space with modern facilities that cater to skaters, BMX riders and scooter users of all skill levels.
The new skate park also features a subtle homage to the town’s famous vanilla slice, with a concrete vanilla slice bench incorporated into the final design.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, thanked the community for their feedback and suggestions throughout the design process.
“We appreciate the community’s valuable feedback and suggestions which were provided throughout the design process. This feedback helped shape a facility that will serve residents and visitors for many years,” he said.
“The new skate park is a great improvement from the existing park, and we look forward to seeing it utilised by skaters, BMX riders and scooters of all abilities. The addition of the concrete vanilla slice is the perfect finishing touch to recognise the town’s award-winning slice.”
Cr Rod Schubert, Midland Ward, said he looked forward to the community utilising the new facility.
"This project brings a modern facility to Tatura and strengthens our commitment to creating spaces that foster community connection and active lifestyles. It is a great outcome for the town and the region,” he said.
