The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee (GSWCACC) is encouraging members of the Greater Shepparton community to nominate inspirational women for the 2018 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
The Victorian Honour Roll of Women is a Victorian State Government initiative that aims to recognise and celebrate the contributions, leadership, and achievements of women in the community.
Previous Victorian Honour Roll of Women inductees from the local area include:
GSWCAAC Charter Champion, Councillor Seema Abdullah believes there are many women in the local community who would be worthy of such recognition.
“The Greater Shepparton community has many women who have made a real difference. I encourage people to nominate a woman they know who has made a tangible contribution,” said Cr Abdullah.
“The Victorian Honour Roll of Women is a fantastic way to acknowledge the achievements of women,” said Cr Abdullah.
“Members of the GSWCAAC have offered to provide mentorship to people who are completing a nomination. Though having a member of the GSWCAAC assist with the nomination is not a guarantee of success, it will be helpful to have another perspective when completing a nomination,” said Cr Abdullah.
The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee (GSWCAAC) is a community advisory committee of the Greater Shepparton City Council, and is part of a broader network of Local Government Area (LGA) advisory committees across the state that are guided and informed by the Victorian Local Government Women’s Charter.
The GSWCAAC is made up of volunteers and, with Council support, aims to increase women’s participation in key decision making forums in the community and in democratic governance. The GSWCAAC supports three main principles: Gender Equity, Diversity, and Active Citizenship.
To access a GSWCAAC mentor, please contact Emma Hofmeyer on (03) 5832 9479 or email women@shepparton.vic.gov.au .
Nominations for the Victorian Honour Roll of Women can be made online at: http://www.vic.gov.au/women/women-s-leadership/victorian-honour-roll-of-women.html
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 17 July 2017.
