Nominations for the 15th annual Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards will open on Monday 15 January 2024.
The awards are an opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers who contribute their time and energy for the good of our community.
The awards are held during National Volunteer Week in May 2024. The theme for the 2024 awards aligns with the National Volunteer Week theme, being ‘Something for Everyone’, which aims to recognise the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said this year’s awards aim to highlight the theme and promote the diversity of volunteers and variety of positions available throughout the community.
“The Volunteer Recognition Awards are an important night to thank and celebrate the amazing people who help out across the region,” he said.
“This year’s theme is particularly fitting, as our region is fortunate to have volunteers who assist in all areas of the community. These people range in age and skills, yet they all share a common goal and we are extremely fortunate to have them as part of our community.”
Nominations are open to people whose volunteering occurred within the Greater Shepparton Local Government Area. The four award categories are:
All nominees and nominators will be invited to celebrate at the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony in May 2024.
“Everyone will know an individual or group of people who volunteer and make a difference in the local community,” Cr Sali said.
“Volunteers keep our sports and community clubs running, help us maintain our social connections and provide essential services such as food. Now is your opportunity to acknowledge the impact those volunteers make within the community and nominate them for an award.”
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 26 February 2024. For further information, award guidelines and to nominate a volunteer, visit Council’s website
Support for nominators and further information can also be obtained by contacting Council’s Community Development Officers via phone on 5832 9700 or email at volunteers@shepparton.vic.gov.au
