Greater Shepparton City Council is re-opening nominations for community members interested in serving on the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame Advisory Committee.
In summary:
The extended nominations will run for six weeks, from Friday 12 April 2024 to Friday 24 May 2024.
Nominations are open to community members and organisations that have a strong knowledge or passion for sports, in and around Greater Shepparton. Current knowledge is desired, however historical knowledge is also an asset to this committee.
The Sports Hall of Fame Advisory Committee oversees the Sports Hall of Fame for the Greater Shepparton region, recommends inductees to Council and celebrates their achievements through an official induction ceremony.
The Sports Hall of Fame aims to preserve, celebrate and showcase the history and heritage of sports excellence and achievement of Greater Shepparton residents.
Mayor, Cr Shane Sali, encouraged locals with an interest in sport and local sporting history to apply.
“The aim of the Sports Hall of Fame is to recognise and celebrate our local sporting history, as well as individuals and teams who have achieved sporting excellence and made a significant contribution to their chosen sport,” he said.
“With the nominations being extended, now is the perfect opportunity for community members with a keen interest in sporting activities across Greater Shepparton and the people who make our local sport so great, to be a part of this important committee. I encourage anyone interested to apply.”
Nomination forms and further information is available on the Shaping Greater Shepp website.
Additional information is available by contacting Council on 5832 9700 or emailing healthycommunities@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
