Greater Shepparton City Council has begun major irrigation works at the Community Football Complex located at the Greater Shepparton Regional Sports Precinct.
The irrigation works are due to be completed in early January with the overall Community Football Complex due to be finished by February 2016.The netball court redevelopment work is also underway and includes 10 new netball courts with lighting to provide Netball Victoria standard netball courts for participants.
The netball court redevelopment will cost $1.39 million which is jointly funded by the Australian Government, Greater Shepparton City Council and the Shepparton Netball Association. Work is due to be completed by February 2016.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Dinny Adem said “the new synthetic hockey field has received a National Accreditation Certificate from Federation International Hockey (FIH) for the new facility. The surface has been independently tested for quality assurance, has demonstrated best practice and will increase worldwide promotion for games which is great news for the Hockey Association”.
“The overall Shepparton Regional Sports Precinct is a $19m redevelopment; this investment will establish it as a nationally significant sporting complex. The redevelopment will enhance our ability to secure and retain new major sporting events and large tournaments,” he said.
“The 65 ha site is centrally located with facilities currently accommodating different sporting codes and recreational activities,” said Cr Adem.
