Refined mall concept design available for viewing

As part of the detailed design process for the Maude Street Mall project, Greater Shepparton City Council has developed a Refined Concept Design which is available for the community to view and provide feedback (extended to until 15 May 2020.)

Council adopted a concept design arrangement for the upgrade of the Maude Street Mall precinct in 2018 and awarded the detailed design to landscape architects Group GSA in August 2019. Group GSA’s first task as part of the detailed design was to further refine and develop the endorsed concept, utilising their extensive market experience in delivering similar projects for regional and metropolitan areas.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Phil Hoare, said Council was looking forward to the community and other interested stakeholder’s responses to this further advanced concept design to reshape and revitalise the Mall area.

“The Mall Precinct is located in the centre of our CBD and has the potential to evolve into a thriving economic and social destination, supporting and further enabling retail, hospitality and various business services”

“Public spaces are critical to a high performing CBD as they strengthen the connection between people and the places they share”

“The Refined Concept Design has confirmed the major features of the design, such as adding one-way traffic back into the Mall from Fryers Street to Stewart Street and a parking area in the south end accessed from High Street. Council is now looking for feedback on the aesthetics of the design and the usability of the other minor features proposed,” said Mr Hoare.

This consultation has now CLOSED.
