Roadworks Advice: Doyles Road and Benalla Road in 2016

Greater Shepparton City Council has awarded Mawson’s Construction the contract to undertake pipe and drainage works to support drainage for the proposed Doyles and Benalla Road roundabout expansion.

Works include underground pipe works from Benalla Rd south to Council’s retardation basin on Doyles Rd to assist with better drainage in readiness for works VicRoads are undertaking on the roundabout. The works also include expanding the existing  retardation basin to provide future wetland system to treat the stormwater from the catchment.

Works on the retardation basin have already commenced and the drainage pipe works will begin on Monday 4 January and are expected to complete by 31 March, 2016. There will be some traffic delays and detours during this period, primarily due to the VicRoads roundabout duplication works.  Council will work with VicRoads to minimise traffic delays.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Steve Bowmaker said “The works are for the future development of the Doyles Road and Benalla Road roundabout and to provide a high capacity drainage spine for the Shepparton East catchment”.
