Safer City Camera Network Testing Commences

Greater Shepparton City Council will undertake testing of the Safer City Camera Network from Friday 16 May for two weeks. The testing phase will provide the opportunity to trial both the equipment and procedures put in place to support the network prior to the official launch scheduled for the end of this month.

Mayor Jenny Houlihan said “It is exciting to see we are getting closer to finishing the project. The cameras and systems will be checked over the coming weeks to ensure everything is in working order.”

The Safer City Camera Project is an initiative of the Safer City Strategy 2011-2014. The project is designed to reduce antisocial and criminal behaviour and improve public perceptions of safety in Shepparton’s CBD.

This project supports the existing partnership between Greater Shepparton City Council and Victoria Police to work towards enhancing and delivering community safety initiatives within the municipality.

Funding for the Safer City Camera network has been provided by Greater Shepparton City Council, Department of Justice and the Attorney-General’s Department.
