In association with the Victorian Planning Authority (VPA), Council is preparing the Shepparton and Mooroopna 2050: Regional City Growth Plan, and now it’s time to have your say on how it will look.
The purpose of the Growth Plan is to inform and guide the sustainable development of the Shepparton and Mooroopna urban areas to the year 2050. The Growth Plan will be used to coordinate, guide and inform the preparation and consideration of future, more detailed local plans, planning scheme amendments and planning permit applications.
A Key Issues and Opportunities Paper has been prepared to highlight some discussion points as a platform to promote feedback from the community and other stakeholders. This is the best opportunity for you to get involved and ensure your vision for Shepparton and Mooroopna is realised.
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Tuesday 19 February 2019, Council voted to release the Shepparton and Mooroopna 2050: Regional City Growth Plan - Key Issues and Opportunities Paper, February 2019 for public comment for a period of four weeks, commencing on Friday 22 February 2019 and concluding on Monday 25 March 2019.
You can provide feedback in three ways:
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development, Geraldine Christou, said she encourages locals to have their say.
“This is an exciting opportunity to submit your ideas that will guide the sustainable development of Shepparton and Mooroopna,” she said.
“This is the earliest and most vital stage to have your feedback considered before the Growth Plan has even been drafted.”
VPA Executive Director Regional Victoria, Brett Davis, said local feedback is crucial when drafting Growth Plans.
“Feedback in response to the Key Issues and Opportunities Paper will be used to inform the preparation of a draft Growth Plan,” he said.
“The community will have a further opportunity to provide input once the draft Growth Plan has been developed later in 2019.”
It is envisaged the final Growth Plan will be implemented through a future amendment to the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme in 2020.
