Spreading Christmas Cheer at the animal shelter

The Shepparton Animal Shelter was the recipient of animal products, kindly donated by staff from GV Health’s Community Dental Service.

The team, who have been collecting goods for the shelter for nine years, donated pet food, bedding, blankets, toys and a dog kennel.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Manager Citizen Services Laurienne Winbanks thanked the team for their donations.

“This allows us to provide more of a homely environment for the animals while we try to get them home, or find them a new forever home,” Ms Winbanks said.

“This is a fantastic contribution from the team at GV Health Community Dental Service and on behalf of Council and the animals at the shelter, I’d like to say a big thank you.”

Donations to the animal shelter are accepted all year round and can be dropped off to the Greater Shepparton Animal Shelter, Wanganui Road, Shepparton.

David Whelan from GV Health Community Dental Service said although one staff member, Wendy Cazaly was the driving force for the collection, all staff got involved in the campaign.

“We wanted to make the animals a bit more comfortable and make it a bit more special for them at this time of the year,” Mr Whelan said.

“We also wanted to support the wonderful staff at the shelter who really do a great job of re-homing and finding the owners for the lost dogs and cats.
