Greater Shepparton City Council has written to the Victorian Transport Minister Terry Mulder requesting that a V/Line Community Reference Group be established for the Shepparton-Melbourne train line.
Victorian Minister for Public Transport and Roads Terry Mulder recently announced that a Customer Reference Group would be established for the North East region, focusing on the Albury line.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Jenny Houlihan said it was important that a group was established in order for users of the Shepparton service to be able to provide feedback and ideas and inform V/Line about their public transport concerns.
"Both Council and our residents have continued to lobby the State Government to improve the train services and timetabling of these services between Shepparton and Melbourne," Cr Houlihan said.
"A reference group would be able to provide very valuable information, data and justification as to why rail services between Shepparton and Melbourne need to improve.
"Our residents rely heavily on public transport services for work and social engagements as well as to attend medical appointments; university commitments and sporting events and I believe they would have a lot of constructive feedback and ideas to communicate."
