Women’s Charter Advisory Committee seeking committee members

The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee (GSWCAC) is calling for nominations from local residents to fill vacant positions on the committee.

The GSWCAC consists of community members and representatives from Greater Shepparton City Council, including a Councillor representative.

The volunteer committee acts as a strategic advisory committee to Council, aiming to promote women in leadership and decision-making. A three-point action plan focussing on Gender Equity, Diversity and Active Citizenship guides the strategic objectives of the committee.

The committee is active in the community, and in partnership with other organisations has achieved:

  • Events to mark the significance of International Women’s Day
  • Awarded recognition to a member of the community or organisation via the annual Women’s Award
  • Provided a scholarship for Kaiela Arts
  • Delivered training

Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe encouraged members of the community to apply.

“As Mayor I am proud of the ongoing commitment, passion and support the GSWCAC provide to the women within the Greater Shepparton community. This is a fantastic Committee that promotes diversity and gender equity, providing women with the opportunity to gain and develop their leadership and problem solving skills to name a few,” Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said.

Cr Kim O’Keeffe said the differences that committee members make to our community are outstanding and having the continued support of the Committee makes a real difference to women’s lives every day.

Application forms are available:

Applications will be received until 5.00pm Monday 10 May 2021. Late applications will not be considered.
