Women’s Charter Advisory Committee Women’s Award now open

Nominations for the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee (GSWCAC) Women’s Award are now open, with the committee beginning its search for community members who have made a difference to women and the broader community.

The purpose of the Women’s Award is to recognise women who make a difference to the community in which they live, work, study or volunteer. The award acknowledges women who positively impact the lives of women in Greater Shepparton.

Nominations will be judged using the following criteria:

  • How the nominee made a difference to the community, within the Greater Shepparton area
  • How the nominee has acknowledged and embraced diversity
  • How the nominee inspired and encouraged women

Council’s Director of Community Kaye Thomson said it is important to continue to recognise women who have made a positive difference to women’s lives.

“The GSWCAC is aware there is a lot of great work going on in our community – especially work that is having a positive impact on women,” Ms Thomson said.

“The GSWCAC acknowledges this work, and wants the opportunity to highlight the efforts of women within the community to help inspire others.”

The GSWCAC is an advisory committee of the Greater Shepparton City Council, and is part of a broader network of Council’s supporting the Victorian Local Government Women’s Charter.

The GSWCAC is made up of community members and, with Council support, aims to increase women’s participation in key decision making forums, opportunities for women, gender equity and diversity.
