Council resolved to award funding to two successful applicants under the Greater Shepparton New Business Grant Program at the April Ordinary Council Meeting.

The New Business Grant is an initiative which commenced in 2017 to assist in the establishment of new businesses within the municipality.

The grant is open year-round and has an annual budget of $30,000. Applicants are able to apply for a maximum of $10,000 with a one-to-one dollar matching investment.

The recipients were:

  • Melrose Pty Ltd (Italian Restaurant) to receive $8,250 (GST inclusive)

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe, said she was pleased to see the region’s business industry growing.

“We all want Greater Shepparton to prosper, and for that to happen we need successful businesses to help build a strong economy, create additional jobs and bring visitors to our region,” she said.

“We thank both the Shepparton Brewery and Melrose Pty Ltd for applying for a grant and encourage other potential new businesses in our region to do the same.”

For Melrose Pty Ltd, the grant will cover part of the costs associated with the construction of two bars within the restaurant.

The grant will assist the new Shepparton Brewery set up roller doors at the back and front of the building.
