The committee represents people from a broad range of backgrounds and provides advice and assistance for a range of Council activities, including ways to promote Access and Inclusion within the City of Greater Shepparton.
Council’s Manager Neighbourhoods Amanda Tingay said there are up to eleven (11) positions available on the committee. The available positions are made up of up to nine community members and up to two representatives of local service providers.
There are positions available for nominated people with disabilities, industry service providers and a nominated Councillor. Council staff also offers administration support for the committee.
“This is a great opportunity for people to actively contribute to positive changes relating to disability in our community.
“Committee members will be elected for a three year term the committee meets at least 10 times per year from February to December each year. I hope that a few of the current committee members will be interested in continuing their contribution to the committee,” said Ms Tingay.
“One of the activities the committee will be involved in will be the completion of the Universal Access and Inclusion Plan and its adoption by the Council.
“The committee advises Council on a number of different items including the broad issue of disability in the community.”
