Greater Shepparton City Council headed to the prestigious Motorclassica in Melbourne earlier this month to spruik the region and all of its attractions to motoring enthusiasts and car clubs from all across Australia.
Council’s Economic Development Team were geared to promote the region to a wide variety of industry and motoring enthusiasts to situate Greater Shepparton as the region to visit, live and invest in.
Motorclassica stands on the world’s stage as Australasia’s largest and most prestigious exhibition of classic and new exotic and prestige cars and motorcycles.
Now in its 10th year, Motorclassica draws an affluent and engaged audience from around Australia and abroad for three days in celebration of the motoring lifestyle. Hosted in the world heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building located in Melbourne, more than 500 vehicles mixed with fine food and wine, cinema, educational displays and more than 100 trade exhibitors.
Greater Shepparton City Council Acting Manager Economic Development Anna Feldtmann said the promotion was all about profiling Greater Shepparton as a tourism destination.
“Council continues to work strategically towards positioning the municipality as a visitor destination in regional Australia, as one of the state’s busiest transportation hubs with 25 per cent of the state’s truck registrations occurring in our region. Motorclassica gave us the opportunity to engage with car clubs and potential groups to encourage them to discover Greater Shepparton as a central location with great facilities and touring routes,” Ms Feldtmann said.
“During the three day event we showcased our fresh local produce, sharing apples from Rocky Varapodio Orchards and we brought along with us a bright yellow Careful Cobber Car to give people a taste of our Shepparton Motor Museum, which proved very popular with the crowds.”
Greater Shepparton was well represented at Motorclassica’s with the Live Restoration Theatre presented by Maskell’s Customs and Classics, showcasing several traditional and modern trades, and the Live Restoration Theatre featured five cars in various stages of restoration process under the watchful eye of Greg Maskell of Shepparton’s Maskell's Customs and Classics.
“Companies chosen to showcase their skills during the event are among the industry’s leading professionals. Council congratulates Greg Maskell and his team for their excellent work in representing the region,” Ms Feldtmann said.
