Lodgments for building and planning applications are now online

Greater Shepparton City Council wishes to advise the community that building and planning applications are now required to be made online.

The Building and Planning department are implementing new software to allow customers to lodge building and planning applications online for electronic assessment, approval and distribution.

The aim of an online lodgment system for building and planning applications is to reduce approval times through removal of the double handling of documents and improve the quality of application documentation.

Online lodgment of building and planning applications will allow for more efficient tracking of applications under assessment and reduce paper and printing costs. Online lodgment of applications also eliminates the potential for loss of hard copy information via the post or other means.

Greater Shepparton City Council Acting Director Sustainable Development Geraldine Christou said “This will increase Council’s overall efficiency of processes in which the data is passed on from one person to another. Paper forms are not necessarily secure as they can get misrouted or lost, which may lead to the disclosure of sensitive information. The security features are designed to help protect users' forms and computers from unsafe operations, such as accessing or sending data to a source that is not trusted.”
