Council is pleased to advise the Maude Street Bus Interchange and Plaza redevelopment works are complete, with Maude Street opening to traffic and pedestrians Friday 20 December and the new public amenities building ready for use.
The new bus interchange and plaza area has been designed to create a user-friendly open space with the focal point consisting of a landscaped park, lighting upgrades and street furniture conveniently located next to the new male and female toilets, Changing Places amenities, breastfeeding rooms, baby change facilities, accessible amenities and a bike storage locker.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said “Greater Shepparton residents and visitors now have access to enhanced public amenities in this location. These works complement the previous works in Vaughan Central improving the feel and functionality of the whole precinct. The new bus interchange will become operational following completion of stage 3 which is the conversion of the roundabout to a signalised intersection at the Maude and Vaughan Street intersection.”
“I would like to thank the community and business owners for their patience during the works; it is great to see another project delivered for the benefit of our residents,” said Mr Hoare.
The bus interchange, plaza and streetscape were funded by Greater Shepparton City Council and the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund. Council received the funding under the Public Safety Infrastructure Fund. Council also received funding from Public Transport Victoria for the bus interchange and from Regional Roads Victoria for a new pedestrian crossing of Maude Street near the Ashenden Street intersection.
Stage three and four works which include a streetscape upgrade between High and Vaughan Street and the upgrade of the Maude and Vaughan Street roundabout into a signalised intersection will commence during 2020.
The new public amenities building and bike shelter will be open daily from 8am until 8pm.
