From 9 to 21 April, Federation Square will be transformed into Shepp Square! The city of Greater Shepparton will move into Melbourne to give people a taste of all the great things that happen in Greater Shepparton.
As Federation Square is the cultural and geographical epicentre of Melbourne where thousands of people converge every day, it provides the perfect venue to showcase all the reasons why people should visit, move and invest in Greater Shepparton.
You’re invited to come down to find out all the reasons why Shepparton was just voted as Australia’s second best and Victoria’s top place to visit, as voted by wotif.com. There will be something for everyone this April at Shepp Square, with new and exciting activities each and every day, activities like the city has never seen.
An abundance of fresh local produce grown in Greater Shepparton Australia’s Foodbowl will be available, and activities galore, everything from milking a not so real cow, Indigenous games to African drumming. With a different theme each day, this will get people coming back again and again. People will even be able to enjoy a local wine, cider and beer or two.
While week one (April 9 – 15) will have plenty of fun for families and young ones, week two (April 17 – 21) it’s down to business with a focus on all the reasons why Greater Shepparton is one of the most progressive regional cities to live, work and invest.
All the information required to make a decision to start a business or move to the area will be available onsite at Shepp Square, including current jobs available. There are even information sessions being conducted that will answer all the questions why investing and moving to Greater Shepparton is a wise decision.
In truly offering a “taste” of Greater Shepparton, a Paddock to Plate Outdoor lunch is on offer on Wednesday April 18. The menu is inspired by Greater Shepparton produce and being prepared by Taxi Kitchen’s Executive Chef and former Shepparton resident, Tony Twitchett. The meal will be perfectly matched with local wines and ciders. Tickets are now available via the Shepp Square website.
“This is a whole of community initiative and effort”, explains Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Cr Kim O’Keeffe. “The benefits of putting Greater Shepparton on show in Federation Square are endless. It is providing the opportunity for our local businesses and organisations to directly engage with the Melbourne market, including the opportunity to direct sell and further develop their customer base. With the broad range of activities on offer, ultimate the aim is to drive visitation, investment and relocation to our region.”
Greater Shepparton City Council encourages all Melbournians and visitors to make the most of the opportunity to explore Greater Shepparton at Shepp Square. We’re sure you’ll love what you see and make sure that Greater Shepparton is on the top of your to do list.
“This is a first-of-a-kind event for Greater Shepparton and Federation Square which is very exciting”, explains Mayor O’Keeffe. “We ask our residents to encourage their family and friends travelling to or based in Melbourne to visit Shepp Square for some fun and food. We would also love for members of our community who are visiting Melbourne to call in to Shepp Square to say hi.”
