The Tatura Library redevelopment is providing entertainment for children from the local childcare centre who were able to have a first-hand look at all the building work on a recent visit.
“Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased works are underway, having the children visit from the childcare centre provided some great entertainment with trucks and diggers. There were so many happy faces and lots of questions about what is happening”, explains Greater Shepparton City Council Director Community Kaye Thomson.
“Tatura Library is a great asset to the local community, having the children involved and to see the excitement on their faces was priceless. Children always love to learn about building and construction machines, especially when they can hear them operating over their adjoining fence. We are thankful the contractors and parents have enabled us to involve the children as part of the building process” said Ms Thomson.
The redevelopment works include extending the building by doubling the floor space and improved access to enable the library to provide a quality, modern public library service for the Tatura community. The revitalised library will feature a children’s area as well as a teenage space.
The $2 million-dollar redevelopment is to be funded by the Victorian Government through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, Greater Shepparton City Council, Goulburn Valley Libraries and the Community.
The Pop up Library is situated at 155A Hogan Street, Tatura – Opposite the Post Office.
Tatura Children’s Centre, the Tatura Community House and Maternal and Child Health services will remain open during the construction works with access from Kerferd Street. Tatura Library is due for completion July 2020.
