Community Safety Month

Community Safety Month is held every October and reminds us that we all have a role in making our communities safer.

Community organisations, schools, groups and individuals are encouraged to host and/or participate in events that promote safety within their community.  Community Safety Month aims to promote awareness about a broad range of safety matters, including crime prevention, personal safety, safe work practices and staying safe during an emergency.

Initiated in 1996 by the Victorian Safe Communities Network Community Safety Month encourages people to look at ways in which they can improve safety in their homes, work, schools and communities.

Getting involved in Community Safety Month is easy. Each year Greater Shepparton City Council develops a Community Safety Month Calendar of Events detailing relevant programs and events which will be held within Greater Shepparton during the month of October.

Community safety is everyone's business so why not get involved! If you would like more information about Community Safety Month visit the Community Safety Month website or contact Council's Community Safety Officer on 03 5832 9792.
